Adam,

I have to correct some of my wording in my last post: I was in a hurry and 
am not used to handle juridical terms in English. (Well, you might have 
guessed the latter from our misunderstanding about 'reeve'.)

So, where I wrote 'feud', I meant medieval Latin 'feudum' or feodum', that 
is, English 'fief'.
Where I wrote 'villain', I meant medieval Latin 'villanus', that is, English 
'villein'.
