A fair amount of the good ideas for ArM5 originated in a Hermes Portal
article. Flick through them and you'll see things like Faerie Magic,
definitions of wards, spell mastery, familiars, and so on that were
incorporated into ArM5.
As for utility for the rules... well, most of the spells can be fairly
easily translated. Other bits are just like house rules. Artistic Ability by
Michael de Verteuil (from HP2) is still valid for example; Erik Dahl's
Bonisagus Redux is less useful, for example.
Other articles retain their usefulness, like any of the "adventures", or the
various "Why don't the Bjornaer Bind Familiars" type articles.
