(This is the concern that casting a simple spell on a weapon makes it
magical and resisted by the Parma, which is considered abusive as it's a
very low level spell.)

I've been considering a suggestion: the idea that all of my own spells
automatically pass through my Parma, just like those with Range: Personal
do. This has many other ramifications, but it addresses the basic problem of
simple spells altering some insignificant aspect of an incoming object,
because those objects would not be resisted. It would also make me more
vulnerable to magic items I created that are used against me, and would mean
that I need to be far enough away from the target of my BoAF spells and the
like so that I don't get caught in the blast, but that seems to be standard
practice.

I could still dull an incoming sword, reducing its damage to me, but that's
a more powerful effect and I don't think it's abusive for a magus with
scores in Muto and Terram to be able to do that, and it would still be
resisted by other magi, which makes it less effective. Likewise, I could use
a cheap effect to protect my sodales, even though I would still be
susceptible to it.

I haven't tried this out in my game yet, so I'd be interested what others
think of this solution.

Erik
